Sol Garcia is a California native with over 20 years of experience with nonprofits benefiting foster children in California as well as marginalized communities in India, Kenya and Mexico. She moved to Mexico City in 2016 to work for Isla Urbana, a nonprofit that supports efforts to provide clean water through rainwater harvesting. Over time, she co-launched Isla Urbana USA and was named Director, while continuing to focus on clean water projects and developing young US student leaders. Her career has taken her through every end of the nonprofit spectrum, from managing programs and volunteers to organizing fundraisers and running an organization. She is passionate about children’s rights and providing children access to resources that are not only essential for survival but also enriching for a thriving future. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management.
