Rosa María Robinson
Originally from Mexico Ms. Robinson was an artist in residence at The Banff Centre, Canada 2009 and 2012 (Banff – FONCA agreement). Ms Robinson has performed Toward the Sea by Toru Takemitsu at the Festival Suoni Inauditi at Livorno, Italy and Manuel M. Ponce’s Sonata III at the Coole Park Galway, Irlend. In 2008, she was a finalist at the XV International Guitar festival ANEMOS Rome, Italy.
As solist and in chamber music, she has performed in important stages and festivals in Mexico and abroad: Art Centre Guarnerius Belgrade Serbia, IX Festival GuitarISTRA 2011 Croatia, International Festival of Pescara, Italy 2011 and at “Astor Piazzolla. De pampa y nopalera” at Palacio de Bellas Artes Mexico.
She has collaborated with many contemporary composers premiering many works including Ernesto Garcia de Leon and Carlos L. Charles. Most recently Ms Robinson premiered “Como el agua que fluye” by the Mexican composer Ricardo Cortés at The Banff Centre.
In 2004 and 2006 Ms. Robinson was awarded a scholarship to the famous Segovia class at Accademia Chigiana at Siena, Italy with Professor Oscar Ghiglia where she was the recipient of the Diploma di Merito 2006.
Ms. Robinson received her bachelor degree in music performance at Escuela Superior de Música INBA in Mexico City where she studied with Mario Beltran del Rio and completed her Masters “19th, 20th Century and Contemporary repertoire” at Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali P. Mascagni at Livorno, Italy under direction of Flavio Cucchi.
